Preparations have been started for the construction of Super Kabeli 'A' Hydropower Project in Taplejung. Preparations have been made for the construction of the hydropower project from the Kabeli River flowing through the eastern Sirijangha village municipality of the district.


Snow Rivers Pvt. Ltd. has started preparations for the construction of Super Kabeli 'A' Hydropower Project to generate 13.5 MW of electricity from Kabeli River flowing along the border of Sirijangha-7 Khebang and Ward No. 8 Yamphudin. The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has also approved the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the project prepared by Snow Rivers Pvt.


The electricity generated from the project will be connected to a 132 KV switchyard and connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority's national transmission line at Amarpur substation in Panchthar district, said Snow Rivers Pvt. According to Pralika, the project will connect 132 KV Amarpur substation through an 18 km long transmission line from the powerhouse in the Khebang-Yamphudin area. The company also aims to complete the construction of the project within the next 2080 BS.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Department of Power Development has issued a public notice seeking suggestions from stakeholders in the affected areas on the impact of construction and operation of the project proposed by Snow Rivers Pvt. The department issued a notice on Sunday stating that the stakeholders should submit their written opinion and suggestions to the department within 35 days if there is any adverse effect from the project operation.


Kabeli 'A' 34 MW, Upper Kabeli 23 MW, Super Kabeli 20 MW and Upper Kabeli-21 MW capacity projects have been proposed to generate electricity from Kabeli River under Taplejung. The 25 MW Kabeli B-1 project in Taplejung-Panchthar area has already been completed and is currently in operation. रासस
